WELCOME TO SOUTHEAST ASIA!!

My name is Avi Black, and I'm spending six months of a year's sabbatical leave from teaching to travel through eight of Southeast Asia's ten countries. With help from some wonderful friends, I'm developing this website so that interested people can follow my adventures exploring the cultures, history and peoples of this spectacular and important area of the world.

While our focus audience is teachers and students from grades 6 through 12, so that certain areas of the site are set up primarily for classroom use, we hope that anyone interested in Southeast Asia will find this site interesting and perhaps even enlightening and provocative. If you've never been to Indonesia or Cambodia, to Malaysia or Thailand or the Philippines, to Myanmar, to Vietnam or to Laos, we think you'll find out some fascinating things by browsing through this site. If you HAVE been there, we hope you'll share with us some of your own experiences and thoughts, or general reactions to the site, through the interactive areas we've set up.

Whatever reasons you have for "being here," we hope you'll enjoy your visit!!
